3 Easy Tips To Stay Healthy & Happy in Autumn

sarah-lewis-jessica-amber

Fall is a season for letting go, finding balance, protection and comfort as the days get shorter and colder.

You might be feeling changes in your body & mood, want to spend more time inside, with tea or a hot reishi chocolate with almond milk (or your own version of a comforting warm beverage). You might feel more tired than usual and you will want to support your body and prevent catching that nasty cold!

It's perfectly normal and there are ways to support this transition into the colder and darker months:

1. Get enough sleep

Sleep is essential to keeping you healthy and happy! You will most likely feel your energy go down, which is natural. Honor the change in season and align with the natural cycle by getting more rest if you feel you need it. Not getting enough sleep might make you weaker and more prone to getting sick. And you might also feel your mood change if you are not getting enough hours of sleep every night.

 2. Nourish your body with seasonal foods

Fall calls for more comforting and grounding foods. There are plenty of very healthy seasonal fruits and veggies to support your body. Think pumpkin, squash, dark leafy greens, apples, beets, soups and stews. You might want to spend more time cooking too, which is a great way to take care of yourself.

 3. Connect to yourself

Autumn is the perfect time to stay in and go inwards. Spend time with yourself. Honor your needs. Maybe you can create a daily practice that will support you during this season. Make it comforting, grounding and nourishing for your body and soul. It's my favorite time to take baths, give myself a coconut oil massage, journal, do some mindful (& slower) movement like walking or gentle yoga. It is a time to slow down, focus on yourself and what gives your life meaning. But keep it simple to avoid getting overwhelmed.

I hope you all stay healthy and happy during this season!

Love always,

Sarah
